He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Joseph "Joe" and Gertie Mae Shawn Cooper; his wife Paulette Saylors Defoe Cooper; his siblings, Oscar Cooper, Luther Cooper, Johnny Cooper, Henry Frank Cooper, Mary Ruth Cooper, Evelyne Cooper, Hazel Cooper, Lillian Robins and Margie Barkley; his brother-in-law Harvey Patterson; and his family, Michael Headrick, Justin Grissom, Dakota Grissom, Colton Guffey, Tony Headrick and James Farrow.
He is survived by: his daughter Michelle Guffey; his grandson Colton Blake Guffey; his great grandchild Colton Eston Blake Guffey of Rossville, GA; his sister Lois Patterson of Dalton, GA; and his close friends, Joe Freeman and Jimmy Farrow. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 27th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Wednesday, May 28th 2025 at 9:00 AM at the Ponders Melrose Chapel (138 Melrose Dr, Dalton, GA 30721). A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, May 28th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
