He is survived by: his children, Laura Marter Henderson (Russ), Rebecca Marter McKelvy (Michael), Tillman "Marty" Marter (Alyson) and Katherine Elizabeth Marter Rogers (Nathan); his grandchildren, Annie Marter Russell, Gage Henderson, Janie Henderson, Cobin McKelvy, Avery McKelvy, Landon Cook, Lukas Marter and Leyah Marter; and his great grandchild Parker Yarber. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.
