He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Settle Herring; his daughters, Christy Herring Fretwell (Chris) and Jenny Herring Lee (Robert); his grandson Jackson Fretwell; and his sister Margaret Herring Keogh. He is also survived by six nieces and nephews.
