The memory of Martha Jo Whitmire (Roswell, Georgia), who passed away on November 19, 2025 at the age of 90, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. As we bid Martha farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Martha is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Herman Roper and Bessie Roper (Cowart); her husband David John Whitmire; her brother O. E.; and her sister-in-law Mattie Ruth Barrett.
She is survived by: her son Stan; and her niece Phyllis Barrett Cook (Eddie).
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 23rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Monday, November 24th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. A funeral service was held on Monday, November 24th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Northside Chapel Funeral Directors & Crematory (12050 Crabapple Rd, Roswell, GA 30075).
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Martha's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, The Salvation Army, or Mount Paran Church in Atlanta.
