She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Lizzie Underwood Whitfield and George Edmond Whitfield, Sr.; her former spouse Latimer Cook Ridgway of Canton, Georgia.; her husband Emory Carter Smith, Jr.; and her brother Bobby Lewis Whitfield.
She is survived by: her daughters, Millicent Ridgway Weathers (Hal) of St. Marys and Kristen Ridgway Kull (Trent) of Rock Hill; her grandchildren, Annemarie Weathers of Atlanta, Makenna Kull of Madison and Chase Weathers of St. Marys; her siblings, JoAn Strickland of Claxton and George Edmond Whitfield, Jr. (Mary) of Doerun; and her sister-in-law Linda Ridgway of Doraville. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
