He is survived by: his wife Ruth Thigpen; his stepdaughter Kristy Gomez (Rafael); his daughter Sarah Whitehead (Johnny); his stepson Jamie McKenney (Kimberly); and his brother Gary Thigpen (Charlotte). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
