He is survived by: his wife Carol; his son Robert Matz (Jessica); his grandchildren, Andrew, Katie and Jonathan of Hannibal, Missouri; his daughter Beth Coggins (Lance); his grandchildren, Missy Grace, Maddy and Levi of Birmingham, Alabama; and his brother Rusty Matz (Cathy) of Nashville, Tennessee..
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Johnson Ferry Baptist Church (955 Johnson Ferry Rd, Marietta, GA 30068). Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Southern Heritage Funeral Home & Cemetery (475 Cahaba Valley Rd, Pelham, AL 35124). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
