He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Elbert Mitchell and Mary Ruth Cogburn Mitchell of Augusta, GA.. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Clayton Mitchell of Greenwood; his children, Ernest Earl Mitchell, Jr. (Susie Little) and Ruth Mitchell Bagnal (Kirk D.); his grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Bagnal Russell (Robert), Kaitlyn Ruth Bagnal, Kaleb Derrick Bagnal, Karson William Bagnal, Lila Claire Mitchell Jimenez (Raphael) and Glenn Clayton Mitchell; and his great grandchildren, Ruby Kate Russell, Jordyn Mae Russell, Benjamin Kirk Russell and David Michael Russell.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Independent Presbyterian Church (207 Bull St, Savannah, GA 31401).
