With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Francis C. Mathews Jr. (Savannah, Georgia), who passed away on October 25, 2022 at the age of 93. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Francis C. Mathews Jr. to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Cannarella Mathews, Sr. and Alice Hennessy Mathews; his wife Margaret Ann Thurn Mathews; his brother James Downing Mathews, Sr.; and his son Frank C. Mathews III.

He is survived by: his sister Mary Mathews Starks; his children, Carolyn Mathews Hefner (Mark), Patrick Mathews (Garlana) and Alice Mathews Dongieux; and his grandchildren, Cory Hefner (Ellen), Lauren Mathews (Matt), Scott Hefner (Sarah), Trey Dongieux, Jon Paul Dongieux, Hunter Mathews, Brendan Mathews, Ashley Bogner and Ryan Hefner. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Frank C. Mathews to St. Peter Apostle Church for the New Organ Fund, Old Savannah City Mission, or the Lions Club of Savannah.
