He was predeceased by: his parents, Hayward Gregory and Mattie Gregory (Holmes); and his siblings, Hazel Gregory-Smith (William Smith), Dorothy Gregory and Joseph L. Gregory.
He is survived by: his wife Emma J. Cuyler-Gregory; and his children, Hayward J. Gregory III (Kathryn Gregory), Lawana M. Gregory Moss (late Timothy Moss), Latricia Gregory-Thompson (Reginald Thompson) and Jacquelin Gregory Longmire (Kenneth Longmire). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
His contributions to the industry were immeasurable, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of hearing his music.
