He is survived by: his wife Betty Wright; his children, John Wright, Jr. (Jennifer), Erica Gadson (Andre), Tiffany Wright and Theodosia Johnson (Derk); and his siblings, Ronald Duncan, Raymon Wright, David Duncan, Nathaniel Pitts, Lawrence Rivers, Anthony Edwards, Annette Duncan, Barbara Duncan, Brenda Gathers and Ruth Ann Burns (PC). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren.
