Vernie left this world on October 14, 2025 at the age of 92, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Wiggins and Laura Wiggins; his wife Mary Lou; his daughter Kimberly Hanks; and his siblings, Cardell, James, Johnny Sr., Odell, Juanita Coursey and Sandra Smith.
He is survived by: his daughter Lynn; his son-in-law Mike Cates; his grandchildren, Chris, Jen Hanks, Elizabeth Marie and Vincent Osonitsch; his great grandchildren, Hunter Kimmel, Cason Hanks, Easton Madden, Eshin Osonitsch and Charles Osonitsch; his siblings, Jerlene Ranew and Robert; his sister-in-law Anita Wiggins; and his children-in-law, Dwayne and Ann Hanks.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 5th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Greenwich Cemetery (330 Greenwich Rd, Savannah, GA 31404).
