He was predeceased by: his wife Sandra Gail Fowler Fitzgerald; his parents, E. D. Fitzgerald, Sr. and Mae Taylor Fitzgerald; and his brother George Fitzgerald. He is survived by: his siblings, Evangeline Ruth Paris and E. D. Fitzgerald, Jr.; his nieces and nephews, Anthony Paris, Alicia Downs, Tim Fitzgerald, Nancy Fitzgerald Mathis, Gwen Flemming and Joni Merk; his cousin Barbara Ann Johnson; Mitch and Lynn Strickland.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home (2950 King St SE, Smyrna, GA 30080). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
