She was predeceased by : her parents, Jimmie Palmer and Catherine Palmer; her husband George Whitlock; and her daughter Sharon Sunder. She is survived by : her granddaughter Devon Carter; her stepson Jay Daniel Whitlock (Jan Whitlock); her grandchildren, Lea Whitlock and Robby Whitlock; her siblings, Cathy Baxley, Jimmy Palmer (Darlene) and Frank Palmer (Patricia); her siblings-in-law, Judy Elliott, Lynda Garland, Larry Whitlock (Diana) and Roger Gillingham; and her godsons, Steven Mehlberg and Jonathan Mehlberg. She is also survived by friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Ruth Whitlock Scholarship Fund (aeefoundation.org/dedicated-scholarships) or to the charity of your choice.
