He was predeceased by: his father Albert Auther Berntson Sr.; his brother Albert Auther Berntson Jr.; and his daughter April Lynn Berntson. He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Crider Berntson; his children, Tori Berntson Burns (Ryan Burns) and Michael M. Berntson; and his grandsons, Gabriel A. Berntson, Dylan C. Gittner and Logan A. Berntson.
In true Thor fashion, when the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted many lives in 2020, he pivoted once again—this time to become a student himself to earn a Commercial Driver's License.
