She is survived by: her husband Preston Steckel; her close friend Preston Steckel; her sons, Byron Steckel (Tetiana) of Suwanee, Georgia and Kyle Steckel of Maryland; her grandchildren, Gregory Steckel, Katherine Steckel, Sophia Steckel, Maxx Steckel and Jake Steckel; and her siblings, Jon Olmstead of Charlotte and Patricia Reichling (Bucky) of Atlanta, Georgia..
She also served patients with empathy and courage during the height of the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
