With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Helen Reid Peebles of Stapleton, Georgia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 17, 2026 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband George Hartwell Peebles; her granddaughter Joy Jones; her parents, May Baston Reid and Brantley Albert Reid; and her siblings, Eleanor Reid, Albert Reid, Carlton Reid, Bennie Reid, Harold Reid, Susie Beckum, Sarah Lewis and Louise Smith.
She is survived by: her daughters, Shirley P. Downs, Janice P. Brooks (Wade), Dianne P. Jones and Carol P. Huff; and her grandchildren, Melissa Frost (Mark), Melinda Clark (Anthony), Sherri B. Weeks, Chris G. Brooks, Robert Jones (Erin), Lori Smith (Scotty) and Cathy Magwood (Danny). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many other extended family members, friends.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to her beloved church---Stapleton Baptist Church, PO Box 146, Stapleton, GA 30823.
