He is survived by: his children, Leslie Stoddard (Thomas), Christina Sheffield, Jimmy Sheffield Jr., Little Jimmy, James Sheffield, Christopher Sheffield and Jeffery Sheffield. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to organizations that support agricultural communities and the preservation of farming traditions.
