He was predeceased by : his brother Bobby Townsend; and his son-in-law Ric Cribb. He is survived by : his wife Anne Holloway Townsend; his children, Ashlee Townsend Cribb Woliver (Walt) and John Rodney Townsend, Jr. (Connie); his grandchildren, Laura Cribb Todd (George), Matthew Cribb, Noah Townsend, Olivia Townsend and Chris Woliver (Abby); his brother Jimmy Townsend (Linda); and his siblings-in-law, Ellen Townsend, Pam Holloway Hodges (Landrum), Jean Holloway Zunkel, Strickland Holloway, Jr. and Bill Zunkel. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
