She was predeceased by: her parents, Joel Garrett and Beatrice Garrett. She is survived by: her son Wilson Pickren (Renee); her grandsons, Harrison "Will", Zane "Max" and Daven "Jack" Pickren; her siblings, Pamela Norton (Fred), Joel "Bud" Garrett (Dot), David Garrett and Gary Nicholson (Carol); her daughter Nicole Pickren; and her siblings, Linda Kirkland, Mila Young, Linda Mae Mitchell, Joy Hancock, Joan Garrett, Janet Nicholson, Mike Womack, Lewis Nicholson, Roy Hancock and David Kirkland. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family, students and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you would do something Betty would have done, donate to your favorite charity, lend a helping hand, sing your favorite hymn loud and proud, or donate to the great people at Lutheran Hospice in Mt. Pleasant, SC where she received tremendous care.
