He was predeceased by : his parents, Ernest Kramer Jackson and Johnnie Ree Smith Jackson; and his siblings, Roy, Lloyd, Horace, Charles, Jackie, Mildred, Novie, Billie, Doris and Faye.

He is survived by : his wife Janice Mae Cowan; his siblings, Frank, Dan, Don and Anne; and his children, Bryan Jackson (Casey), Sharon Greer (Allen), Lynn Thorne (Mike), Ellen McAlister (Reece) and Stan Jackson (Mary). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Troy's name to Bible Baptist Church, Hampton, Georgia.
