He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard W. "Dick" Simpson, III and Ethel Guffey Simpson; and his granddaughter Lucy Faith Simpson. He is survived by: his wife Rita Parker Simpson of Stone Mountain, GA; his children, Collins Simpson Foster (Chris), Richard W. Simpson and John Parker Simpson; his grandchildren, Avery LeeAnn Simpson, Tessa Claire Simpson and Emerson Anne Foster; his brother David Russell "Rusty" Simpson (Willa Murray Simpson) of Beaufort, SC; and his nieces, Margaret Simpson Blankenship (Allen), Jennifer Simpson Ruprecht (Russ) and Lindsey Simpson Wolansky (Lee).
