With sadness, we share the passing of Deacon Harold Gene Thompson Sr. of Summerville, Georgia. Deacon, born on April 30, 1947, passed away on August 30, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Roosevelt Thompson (Mae Bell Etchison Thompson McDaniel) and A. D. McDaniel, Sr.; his wife Mae Emma Miller Thompson; his son Harold Thompson, Jr.; his brothers, Warren McDaniel, Paul McDaniel and Mike McDaniel; and his nephew Hampton McDaniel.
He is survived by: his stepfather A. D. McDaniel, Sr.; his daughters, Serita Morton (Victor), Sommer Thompson of Millington, TN, Nischa Whitaker (Devegas) of Summerville, GA and Racquel Johnson (Dennis) of Villa Rica, GA; his brothers, Rodney McDaniel (Shelly) of Charlotte, N. C. and A. D. McDaniel, Jr. (Dorothy) of Lyerly, GA; his sister-in-law Sheraldine Miller of Summerville; and his aunt Ruby Adams of Lyerly. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends, and his church family.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 6th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Jesus Christ Church (487 Scoggins St, Summerville, GA 30747). A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 6th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
