He was predeceased by : his parents, Jessie Oliver and Beatrice Stuart Joiner; and his brothers-in-law, Donnie Boykin, Larry Keel and Ted Bryne.

He is survived by : his wife Linda Sowell Joiner; his children, Kellie Joiner of Lincolnton, GA and Ben Joiner, Jr. (Casey) of Midville, GA; his grandchildren, Ben Joiner III and Chloe Joiner; and his siblings, Oliver Joiner (Rosemary), Beatrice "Billie" J. Boykin, Patrice Ann J. "Pat" Keel, Elizabeth J. Powell (Billy), Mildred Katherine J. "Kathy" Sheffield and Louise J. Kennedy (Chris). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
