He was predeceased by: his father Dorsey LeHue Bennett; and his brother Robert Bennett. He is survived by: his wife Helen Bennett; his daughter Phyllis; his son-in-law Reggie Hodges; his son Wesley Nathan Bennett; his siblings, Shirley Jean Scott, Irene Bragg and LeHue Dorsey Bennett; and his grandchildren, Shellie, Matthew Shipes and Dalton Dent. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
