He was predeceased by : his parents, Walter Richard, Sr. and Lelia Herrin Tillman; his wife Barbara Tillman; the mother of his children Eunice R Haymans; his sons, Leo Haymans and Rick Haymans; and his siblings, Eula Mae Lott, Christine Keene, Aline Strickland, Leonard Tillman and Rufus Tillman.

He is survived by : his daughter Lelia Sommers (Sam) of Sylvania, GA; and his grandchildren, Christopher Sommers (Joyce) of Sylvania, Bayne Evans of Soperton and Brandon Sommers of Rocky Ford. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
