With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Everett Oliver Hood of Sylvester, Georgia, who passed away on December 4, 2025 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Benny Hood and Elise Brown Nelms; and his sisters, Christine James and Elaine Tharpe. He is survived by: his wife Glenda Sikes Hood of Sylvester; his children, Kim Colby (Jack) of Worth County and Craig Hood (Tammie) of Worth County; his grandchildren, Cale Colby, Kristen Knowles (Kris) and Courtney Hood; his great grandchild Jackson Colby; and his sisters, Bertha Kamishlian of Lee County, Josie Knight of St. Simons Island, Gail Dykes of Cairo and Janice Medders of Worth County. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 7th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Gordy New Bethel Baptist Church (1671 Massey Airport Rd, Sylvester, GA 31791). A funeral service was held on Sunday, December 7th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Sunday, December 7th 2025 at the Hillcrest Cemetery (701 S Isabella St, Sylvester, GA 31791).
