He was predeceased by : his parents, Lawrence Richard and Frankie Phillips Stephens; his wife Ruby May Stephens (Betty); and his sisters, Faye Dobbs and Reba Stovall.

He is survived by : his son Rick Stephens (Rhonda) of Temple, GA; his grandson Russ Stephens (Jenica) of Kennesaw, GA; and his great grandchildren, Owen Stephens of Kennesaw, Lily Stephens of Kennesaw and Max Stephens of Kennesaw. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to New Brooklyn Baptist Church Cemetery, 124 New Brooklyn Church Road, Temple, GA 30179.
