He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Messel and Joyce Bissett Messel; his wife Wanda May Shannon Messel; and his sisters, Pam Evans and Sherri Messel.
He is survived by: his children, Melissa Meals (Troy) of Temple, Elizabeth Holt of Villa Rica, Linda Padgett of Villa Rica, Patrick Messel of Villa Rica and Raymond Messel of Villa Rica; and his brothers, Chris Messel of Villa Rica and Mike Messel of Villa Rica. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
