He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert Lee Townsend and Lillian Drake Townsend; and his siblings, Margie Webb, Mary Darsey, Harvey Townsend and Robert Erskin Townsend.

He is survived by : his wife Brenda Townsend; his daughters, Rhonda Fortner (Lonnie), Christy Kennedy, Kayla Harris (Mike) and Tina Higner; his siblings, Frances Reese, Dorothy Brown and Aldine Townsend (Ellen); and his caregiver Lisa Bragg.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 8th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Mt View Baptist Church (2569 Jeff Davis Rd, Thomaston, GA 30286). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 8th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Mt. View Baptist Church (2569 Jeff Davis Rd, Thomaston, GA 30286).
