He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Shiflet and Leila Augusta Massey Shiflet; his wife Betty Ward Shiflet; his son Steve Shiflet; his sisters, Carolyn Pitts, Ruth Kennedy and Louise Lynch; and his granddaughter Kaylee Shiflet.

He is survived by: his children, Allison Henderson (Rod) of Athens and Bruce Shiflet of Brunswick. He is also survived by four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the City of Refuge Church, 803 N. Church St, Thomaston, GA 30286.
