He was predeceased by: his parents, Otis Spires and Bertha Mae Spires; his wife Virginia Irene Spires; his siblings, Westin Spires, Alton Spires and Francis Spires; his sister-in-law Doris Spires; and his son-in-law David Walton.
He is survived by: his daughter Kim Walton (Mark Paulk) of Thomaston Ga; his grandson Matt Walton of Tampa, FL; his sister-in-law Diane Spires; and his nieces, Peggy Myers (Joe) and Debbie Glover. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
