He is survived by: his wife Jacqueline "Jackie" Kennedy Pitts of Thomaston; his children, Stephanie Chambers (Jimmy) of Thomaston and Richard Stephen Pitts Jr.; his sisters, Judith Katz (Mike) of Smyrna and Christy Short of Eastpoint; and his grandchildren, Trenton Pitts and Remy Chambers. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
