He was predeceased by: his parents, Olan Florance Sampson and Annie Sampson Grimsley; and his former wife Barbara Sue Sampson. He is survived by: his children, David Sampson (Debbie), Mitchell Sampson (Alesia) and Marla Sampson; his sisters, Joyce Sherrod and Tammy Grimsley Banks; and his stepchildren, Leonard "Bo" Sawyer (Toby), Timmy Sawyer (Lisa) and Donna Davis. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Whiddon Shiver Funeral Home Chapel (10451 US-84, Thomasville, GA 31757). A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Sunset Memorial Gardens (10526 US-84, Thomasville, GA 31757).
