He was predeceased by: his parents, Gary Grady Groves and Lois Christine Hall Groves; his son Walter Lee Groves; and his siblings, Charlie Bozeman, Barbara Peppers, Ronald Groves, Gary "Buddy" Groves and Tommy Groves.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Roberts Groves of Thomasville; his daughters, Sharon West (Mark) of Thomasville and Debbie Groves of Mableton, GA; his grandchildren, Carrie Chancy (Justin) of Boston, GA, Courtney Setliff (Ryan) of Ochlocknee, GA, Nicholas Reed (Mikaela) of Thomasville and Hannah Watkins (Will Alt) of Hauser, ID; his great grandchildren, Deacon, Talen, Ledger, Elliette Chancy, Leighton, Rhett Setliff and BlakeLee Alt; and his siblings, Alton Bozeman (Donna) of Thomasville, Jeannette Long of Thomasville, Andrew "Andy" Groves (Sandy) of Thomasville, Betty Partain of Moultrie, GA and Robbie Groves, Sr. (Becky) of Thomasville. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Whiddon Shiver Funeral Home Chapel (10451 US-84, Thomasville, GA 31757). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Ione Full Gospel Lighthouse Church (1876 Ione Church Rd, Pavo, GA 31778).
