With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Alvin Arthur Stokes of Toccoa, Georgia, who passed away on December 31, 2025 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Arthur and Ora Bell Stokes; his former wives, Earlene McLeod, Alice Stokes and Joy Stokes; his sister Ora Pels; and his children, Arthur Earl Stokes, Alison Sofia Merritt and Melissa Merritt Morgan.
He is survived by: his wife Teressa Stokes; his children, Roy Stokes (Amy) of Ocala, FL, Renee Kist (Thomas) of Alberqueque, NM, Thomas Stokes (Amanda) of Floral City, FL, Jamie Sampson (Edward) of Six Mile, SC, John Stokes (Crystal) of Mountville, SC and Jeff Ramsey of Toccoa, GA; his great grandchildren, Randell Stokes (Kendra), Ben, Rebecca and Estella; his grandchildren, Thomas Kist (Amanda), Christopher Kist (Alyssa), Adriana, Gabriella, Joshua, Jonathan Kist (Michelle), Trinity, Carly, Mariah Morgan, Ashley Stokes, John, Jared Stokes, Eric Stokes, Madelynn, Aaron James, Elizabeth Todd (Gavin), Adeline, James Sampson, Alison Traynham (Brad Rachels), Jonnie Stokes, Dakota, Cameron, Laney Stokes, William (Karley), Paisley and Christian; his mother-in-law Betty York of Eastanollee, GA; and his siblings-in-law, Sharon Whittington (Jinks) of Carolina Beach, NC, Judy Dickerson (Joey) of Eastanollee, GA and Tim York (Donna) of Eastanollee, GA. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
