He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Ruth "Bill" Whiten Steele and Keller Cheek; his daughter Kerry Steele Looney; and his grandson Garrett Daniel Looney. He is survived by: his son Kelly Dan; his daughter-in-law Elizabeth Jean Steele; his grandchildren, Kelsey Jean Steele, Kensley Alexis Steele and Sammy (Cici Wingo-Steele); his great grandchild Zyla Rae Wingo; his sister Ruth Meeks; his niece Julie Ann Mitchell; his brother Sam Steele; his son-in-law Tony Looney; and his caregiver Judy Whitehead.
