He is survived by: his wife Barbara Turner Bowen; and his children, Richard Bowen of Statham, Michael Bowen of Madison, Angela Bowen Smith of Statham and Katie Bowen Carter of Ringgold. He is also survived by six grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
