He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Dwain Smith, Sr. and Ruby Grace Bruce Smith; and his brother Don Smith. He is survived by: his wife Debra Waller Smith of Carnegie; his children, Kylie Patterson (Will) of Albany, Brooke Berry (Justin) of Carnegie and Neal Smith (Krissey) of Cuthbert; his siblings, Nancy Smith Deloach of Toccoa, GA, James Dale Smith (Terri) of Tampa, FL and Marvin Dwain "Bo" Smith of Carnegie; and his grandchildren, Gracie Bruner, Daniel Smith, Nash Berry and Timmy Berry.
