He is survived by: his children, Anita Thornton of Toccoa, Robert Thornton (Cathy) of Toccoa and Peter Thornton (Greg Cannon) of Toccoa; his sister Marianne Smith (Ashton) of Midland, GA; his grandchildren, Mollie Payne (Sean) of Hartwell and Jake Thornton (Alyssa) of Auburn, AL; and his great grandchildren, Knox, Duke, Stella Kate Payne, Shaw and Sutton Thornton.
