She was predeceased by: her husband Thomas Henderson James; her son Thomas Sylvester James; her parents, G. W. Hicks and Annie Hicks; and her siblings, Barbara Clark and Stevie Hicks.
She is survived by: her children, Tonya Sue Layman (James Parson) and Bobby James; her grandchildren, Kayla Derryberry (Steven), Jessica Derryberry (Jonathan), Bradley Derryberry of Meagan James, T. J, Michael Holland (Kyana) and Tyler Thapa; her great grandchild Declan Lloyd Holland; and her siblings, Ernie, Kenneth Hicks and Diane Morrow. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Ryan Funeral Home & Crematory (11415 S Main St, Trenton, GA 30752). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
