He was predeceased by : his parents, Clarence Payne and Lola Mae Payne; his sons, Darrell and Timothy Payne; and his siblings, Edith Mason, Cecil Payne, Gertrude Hughes, Johnny and Aubry Payne.

He is survived by : his wife Carolyn Payne; his children, Melissa Williams (Wesley) and Anthony Payne; his sisters, Ann Payne, Edna Duncan (Jake) and Carolyn Duncan; his grandchildren, Tiffany, Brandon, Zachary, Emily, Jacob Payne, Takoda, Lydia Williams, Jonathan McGill and Franklin Fortner; and his great grandchildren, Jayvin Honea, Alyssa, Ava Payne, Tracy Lawton, Serenity, Dylan Fortner, Mark, Kaylen Todd and Takoa Standridge.
