It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles James Backus of Valdosta, Georgia, born in Baltimore, Maryland, who passed away on September 28, 2023, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Victor Backus and Ava Bell Backus (Tyler); and his sister Mary Ava Chucoski. He is survived by: his wife Geri Backus (Delozier); and his sisters, Nancy Casler and Deborah Chance. He is also survived by nephew and five nieces.
