He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Bass and J. M. Bass; his siblings, Linda Nunn and Robbie Bass; and his son Jay Michael Bass (Betty Bass Thackrey).
He is survived by: his sons, Gary Bass, Jr. (Martha) of Marietta and Mark Bass (Michele) of Cumming, Georgia; his grandchildren, Jennifer Bass, Justin Bass and Jacob Bass; and his great grandchild Isaac Lowry. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Valdosta State University.
