He was predeceased by: his parents, George Edward Smith, Sr. and Lettie Irene Leachman Smith; and his siblings, Bill Reddick, Robert Reddick, Edith Smith, Virginia Blanton and Betty Dilkes.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Hightower Smith; his daughter Sandra; his son-in-law Al Rowell of Valdosta; his son Eddie; his daughters-in-law, Pam Smith of Lake Park and Amy Smith of Hahira; his grandchildren, Alison Hamel (Joe) of Valdosta, Alex (Grace), D. C., Emily Rowell (Dakota), Tyler Smith (Alexa) and Georgia; his great grandchildren, Zoey Hamel and Lenora Rowell; his sister-in-law Mary Frances Hightower; and his pet Snowball. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
