He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. John Raymond Smith and June Parrott Smith; and his brother John Raymond Smith, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Marie Converse Smith; his children, Missy Smith Kalish (Bruce) of Apopka, Florida, Lang Smith Smotherman (John) of Jennings, Florida, Jolyn Smith of Valdosta, Georgia and Nancy Smith Rathmann (Randy) of Valdosta, Georgia.; and his grandchildren, Joseph Glenn Sapp, Max Sapp of Orlando, Florida, Dr. Briggs Smotherman (Mary Beth), Allie Smotherman Richards (Zack) of Valdosta, Georgia, Lauren Rathmann Eager (Thomas), Hailey Anne Rathmann, Faith Rathmann and Leslie Cate of Valdosta, Georgia..
