He was predeceased by: his mother Bessie Lee Brown Edith; his brothers, Jimmy and Charles; his grandparents, Mattie Lee Brown, Jonas Brown, Sr., Calperta Proctor and Roosevelt Edith; and his stepson Vincent "Sweetpea" Burns, Jr..

He is survived by: his father Julius C. Edith; his wife Laverne Gardner Brown; his sons, Shawn Edith, Rodney McCoggle (Tiffany) and Kametrick Gardner; his stepdaughter Adrienne Freeman (Robert); his granddaughter Ka-Niyah Gardner; his brother Otis Riley (Willie Dell); and his siblings-in-law, Mamie Johnson, Diann William, Julius Gardner and Arthur Gardner. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and numerous friends.

A celebration of life was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 11:00 AM at 104 West St, Valdosta, GA 31601.
