He was predeceased by : his wife Wanda Joyner Kersey; his parents, Mitchell Kersey and Maggie Kersey; and his siblings, Bernice Kersey, Felton Kersey, Jerlene Kersey Holley, Cecil Kersey, Lula Bell Kersey Scarboro, Rozina Kersey Scott, Audrey Kersey Burton and Mary Kersey Spikes Groover.

He is survived by : his son Chris Kersey of Vidalia; his stepchildren, Christy Connell of Vidalia and Misti Brown (Andrew Manning) of Macon; his brother Mickey Kersey; his grandchildren, Jasmine Sky Connell and Thomas J. Brown; and his great grandchild Hendrix Coleman Blackshear.
