He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Josephine DeVore Byrne; his daughter Gloria Byrne; and his parents, Sherman Byrne and Pachen Byrne. He is survived by: his children, Glenda Hollis (Brian) of Avera, Richard Byrne of Lyons, Stewart Byrne of Screven County and Vanessa Byrne of Vidalia; and his sister Dorothy Tracy of Texas. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
