He was predeceased by: his parents, Lonnie Hughes and Ruby Turner Hughes; and his sisters, Eloise Hughes Deforest and Daphne Hughes Lee. He is survived by: his wife Faye C. Hughes of Vidalia; his daughter Sherry Hughes Damron (Dwayne) of Oak Park; his grandson Sterling Damron (Julia Deets) of Oak Park; and his siblings, Seab Hughes (Cherry) of Vidalia, Donny Hughes (Tonya) of Soperton, Kelmar Hughes of Waycross, Annette Hughes Morris of Augusta, Hazel Hughes Hutto (Melvin) of Douglas and Marie Hughes Carter (Jimmy) of Douglas. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 6th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home (310 North St W, Vidalia, GA 30475). A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 7th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
